Weekend Paintings!

This past weekend I made a painting of my boyfriend's red mini cooper as a gift for our 6 year anniversary. He loves his car (almost as much as me haha) so here are some photos of the painting throughout the process of making it.

This one is a sketch of the car I made by shining a cell phone light through a window with help from my sister. It was drawn on a canvas pad. Initially the road was meant to have a railing, but I took it out because I thought it was ugly. Maybe the car likes to live on the edge.
Chili pepper red paint job and my first attempt at the shading on the hood.
Starting to look like a car!
Throw in some scenery and it is almost done.
Framed and ready to be hung! :)

Project 2: Connections

This Project was to depict any kind of connection that we make. It could be between a phone line or internet connection, or even more literal like connect the dots or puzzle pieces. I chose to make mine a mother-daughter connection of imagination during tea time.
This is the original thumbnail for the image.

Here is a drawing I made for the background, then edited it in illustrator later.
A few scribbles for texture...
And Ta-Da! The finished product.

Focal Point Exercise

This was a exercise to practice visual hierarchy. The goal was for the viewer to see the cheetah first, the turquoise second and the dark blue third.

Color Assignment

Here is my color coordination assignment. This one was kinda tough for me! I thought about it too much, but I'm happy with it now. Hopefully this assignment will make choosing colors for other art projects easier!

Inktober Challenge!

A friend told me about a cool new challenge to post an ink doodle a day for the entire month of October! I haven't used ink in a while, but I figured it would be a fun way to keep up my daily artsyfartsing :) Enjoy!
